The Latest in Crawford

There has been a great buzz around Crawford Childcare, Cork last week which was topped off nicely with pyjama day on Friday. Funds collected from pyjama day are all donated to the Irish Hospice Foundation for homecare for children. The motto used by Early Childhood Ireland to promote the campaign was “Helping children to help children and having fun!” There was certainly a feel good atmosphere on Friday. By supporting this campaign we all made a small but significant difference in the lives of families that are less fortunate than our own. Combined on a National scale every contribution makes a huge impact – thank you all for your support and generosity in raising €459.81.

Meanwhile the circus has rolled into Hazelwood, Glanmire and our Montessori class must have been tipped off as they have had their own circus extravaganza this week with face painting, acrobatics, juggling, ringmasters, tigers and clowns – Phew! We also learned a new song. Try asking your Montessori pupil to help teach you the tune so you can sing it together.

“Let’s all go to the circus
The circus today, the circus today
Let’s all go to the circus, today
And watch a big parade

See the clowns all tumbling around, tumbling around
See the clowns all tumbling around
In the circus ring

Lions and tigers jumping through hoops
Jumping through hoops, jumping through hoops
Lions and tigers jumping through hoops
In the circus cage

The prancing horses step so high,
Step so high, step so high
The prancing horses step so high
In the circus ring.”

The toddlers especially loved pancake day and we seem to have lots of would be chefs in the making. Many of the children were much better than the adults at tossing and catching their pancakes. They were very tasty to although some of us preferred a rice cake!

Meanwhile in the baby room songs, stories, games and arts & crafts have all been focusing on body parts. There have been a lot of coloured fingerprints around the room as the children have been busy making keepsake poems for their mums and dads with their keyworkers.

Thanks again for all your support. Please share with us your child’s stories of what they have enjoyed most at crèche as this really helps us to plan future activities and events.
