Baby Room Spider Spectacular in Crawford

Baby Room Spider Spectacular in Crawford

Lately in the baby room in Crawford Childcare in Cork  there has been a lot of focus on everything to do with spiders. Interests range from Spiderman whom Tiarnan’s brother Cormac brought in for us all to see, to Incy Wincy himself.

The children have really enjoyed listening to our rhymes “Incy Wincy Spider” and “Little Miss Muffet” although Aoife and Peig seem to have become a little more protective of their porridge! Robert, Eilish and Amelie have been providing us with some actions for Incy Wincy and the baby room team are all trying to master it as well as this terrific trio.

We have also been playing “Tickle Tickle Spider”. This is where we pretend our fingers are little spiders and tickle the children. Lily Kate and Ellie are particularly fond of this game and always seem to be full of tickles and giggles.

We were lucky enough that the children all decided to sit while we explored some spider facts. They seem really interested that spiders have 8 legs although this did seem to puzzle Eoin and Sophia we are in the process of mastering their 2, never mind 8! We also spoke about spiders having 8 eyes – wouldn’t that come in handy?

Perhaps not surprisingly we decided to get crafty making some spiders and we hope to make our very own spider wall in the baby room. The babies seem to love getting messy with art activities and it gives them a chance to get to take a good close look at what a spider may look at. Unfortunately our baby room is to clean and bright for Incy Wincy and his friends to hang out although we sometimes get the occasional visit in our outdoor area.

Just in case you don’t know them here are the words to Incy Wincy to sing a long with your baby!

Incy Wincy Spider climbed up the water spout
Down came the rain and washed poor Incy out
Out came the sunshine and dried up all the rain
Incy Wincy Spider went climbing up again!
