Lá Fhéile Pádraig Shona Daoibh
On Monday 16th March the Montessori class explored everything to do with St. Patricks Day in preparation for the real thing the next day. We coloured some flags that we thought would be brilliant to use for our St. Patricks day parade in Our childcare setting in Glanmire. We wanted to include different flags in our parade so some of the children could show what country they came from or maybe where their mommy’s and daddy’s are from. We were all excited to include countries like Spain, Poland, Latvia, Saudi Arabia, Norway, France and India, and the children in the creche were delighted to show off all these different flags in the parade. When we finished colouring our flags, we talked about all the different things we might see at the parade and how important it is to come together and celebrate the Irish culture. Then we put on some Irish music and got ready for our parade. It was beautiful to see all the beautiful colours of the flags when we were waving them high in the sky for everyone to see.
The Montessori’s are also talking about how a person could feel all different emotions at one time so we decided to do a few actions that described different emotions during the parade. Ashley read out a story that described all the different emotions a person could feel when they are making their way to school. When we were finished we had time to do a bit of Irish dancing well at least try and do some Irish dancing.
Also we were making some teeny weeny leprechauns to decorate our walls, all green, white and orange of course. But mums and dads we think we may have to lock up our little leprechauns because they keep trying to escape from our room to find a rainbow and a pot of gold. Maybe the Montessori’s might have some Irish luck and find a pot of gold when they our out on their hikes in our outdoor garden? “Ádh na nÉireannach”
