Discovery Room
The children had lots of fun at our interest table this week making pictures/creations from the different objects and materials that were provided. We followed the children’s interest and added material to our table such as Christmas cards, cardboard, paper, crayons, cellotape and envelopes. The children got to work using their imaginations and creativity.
The children used some of the new material in role play. They used the paper, crayons, cards and envelops to make postcards and Christmas cards to send to their friends. Robert decided to send his card to Poland, while Zach wanted to send a card to his house. Some children enjoyed cutting up the material and taking pictures of what the made with the camera. Some parents commented on how creative the children are and their wonderful pictures. Luke’s Mam told us he loves to make cards and use envelopes at home too.
Adventure Room
Music, singing and dancing are very popular this week so we played songs they know like ‘Wheels on the bus’ and ‘If you’re happy and you know it’, ‘5 Little Monkeys’ and ‘London Bridge’.
Some children enjoyed singing with gestures, while others decided to dress up and dance. Some felt the need to play instruments to accompany the music. We encouraged interactions between the children while they are dancing. Parents were delighted to see the children singing with some saying they sing a lot at home and others were surprised to see their child interested dressing up.
Explore Room
The children in the Exploring room love to climb the activity centre. The spend a lot of time in this area throughout the day. We encourage them to climb and slide down onto the mats, play ‘Peek-a-boo and play on the see saw. The Activity centre is very good for their physical development and gross motor skills.
The children spend a lot of time on the activity centre and love to roll around on their backs on the soft mats as they are very comfortable. Parents love the activity centre too as it is so good for the children’s development and is such a key part of the room allowing the children to explore and its obvious they enjoy it.
