Road Safety at Crawford

Road Safety at Crawford

Recently Joan Ann from the Road Safety Authority came to visit us at the Crawford Childcare to tell us all about how to be safe on the roads with our children. A lot of people forget about simple things like, does your child know what colour the reverse light on your car? Often children don’t. She advised it might be better to reverse into a space rather than driving into it, something so simple like this can reduce the child fatalities we are having on Irish roads.

The Back to School Campaign has returned this year and the RSA are sending out free high visibility jackets to all Primary Schools towards the end of September. In Crawford Childcare in Glanmire we believe that all children should be safe on the roads so we decided to order some high visibility jackets for the children who come here to. As the nights are getting darker, it is important for all children when they are outside to be visible to all drivers on the roads.
You can get your child car seat checked for free when you visit the Check it Fits Road show.
Why not go along with your car, your car seat and your child where the experts will make sure your child is safe. The Check it Fits Roadshow is coming to Ryan’s Supervalu Glanmire on the 26th of September 2014 from 10am to 5:30pm, so go down and check if your car seat fits your car properly.
Road Safety week will run through the week of the 6th to the 10th of October, in Crawford Childcare we will focus on all the importance of road safety which will include themes like “Holding Hands, Stopping, Looking & Listening and Setting a Good Example” when we will be using our “Simon and Friends” resource packs that we received. We will also hold our own “Beep Beep Day” on the 10th of October when the children will be able to enjoy lots of road safety activities throughout the day. For more songs and stories for the children you can log on to “Salman and Friends” website, the UK counterpart of “Simon and Friends”.
“Safe Cross Code, Street Smart, Be Safe and Let’s Go”.
