The Latest in Crawford

Summer camps have started for our 3 to 5 years in Crawford Childcare in Glanmire. The weather has been kind (mostly) allowing lots of outdoor play and physical activity. World cup fever has helped spur us on! Structured games include warm ups and cool down activities. Favourites include Rabbits, Squeeze, Animals, Sticky bits and other more traditional games like Simon Says, Obstacle courses, Duck duck goose and What time is it Mr Wolf? Children also have free play time to choose and create their own games using the available equipment.

Even when the weather has meant we have needed to stay inside we still stayed active with bizzy breaks, balancing beams, bear hunts and parachute fun!

Our graduation celebrations also got extended as one of our children was on holiday and we thought it would be a nice way to welcome the children into the Montessori from the toddler room. The new Montessori class sang songs for the toddlers and we all had a small party afterwards.

Meanwhile the toddlers have also been spending lots of time outside in our sand filled tractor tyres, on bikes and on our pirate ship climbing frame. Bubble chases and races are daily also in the fine weather!

On wet days the toddlers have been practising their dance moves as well as their fine motor skills activities like threading and painting.

The babies are fascinated with wind chimes and the feel of the grass and the growing daisies when the weather is good. Rainy days have turned into band practice – check out our recent learning story in reception β€œThe banging baby band!” Songs are a wide range from Twinkle twinkle little star to One Direction hits which a few baby keyworkers are into after a recent concert. Top of the Pops in the baby room at the moment though is All the rain drops. Lots of our babies love joining in with the Aah aah a aah ah a ah a ah ahhh! If you want to try it at home here are the words:

β€œIf all the rain drops were lemon drops and gum drops
Oh what a rain that would be
Standing outside with my mouth open wide
Aah aah a aah ah a ah a ah ahhh!

If all the snow drops were icecream and milkshake
Oh what a snow that would be
Standing outside with my mouth open wide
Aah aah a aah ah a ah a ah ahhh!

Give it a try. If you want any help with the tune ask a member of our team.
