Mornings are busy but a special part of the day at Crawford Childcare. It is lovely to see the children being dropped off by their parents, family members and carers. Most children will stroll in happy and excited to tell us their news. The toddlers are very busy in their room on a daily basis between circle time, activities, dancing, outdoor play and using their imagination when playing. So what do the toddlers get up to when their Mommies and Daddies are not around? The toddlers enjoy using their imagination and they also look out for each other. We were recently very impressed by the way Zach helped 2 of his friends who had taken a bit of a tumble when they were pretending to be bumper cars and bumped off each other! In the last few days we have noticed more and more butterflies joining us with our summer crafts. This week the Montessori class at Crawford Childcare Creche, Glanmire painted their face and flapped their wings and enjoyed playing with our new butterfly friends. During the year we looked at caterpillars. It is wonderful to experience the last stage of the butterfly life cycle. We are learning a song to sing to our butterfly friends. Lately in the baby room in Crawford Childcare in Cork there has been a lot of focus on everything to do with spiders. Interests range from Spiderman whom Tiarnan’s brother Cormac brought in for us all to see, to Incy Wincy himself. The children have really enjoyed listening to our rhymes “Incy Wincy Spider” and “Little Miss Muffet” although Aoife and Peig seem to have become a little more protective of their porridge! June is a very busy month for all of us here in Crawford Childcare, Glanmire, Cork! Our Montessori children are busy preparing for their big Graduation Day! As their year in Montessori comes to an end and they prepare for primary school we are busy putting together our Montessori song book and getting out our graduation gowns and caps. If you are a regular follower of us on Facebook you will know that everyone in the crèche has been learning about different careers and professions recently. First to visit Crawford Childcare crèche was Garda Noel. We learned about bike safety, car safety and who to go to if we ever get lost in a shop. Some of our aspiring Gardas got to try on Noel’s hat and handcuffs. We then got to work making our own Garda hats, badges and cars. Second to visit the crèche was Firefighter Fiona. She has to do a lot of training just to carry her helmet and jacket.…
Here in Crawford Childcare, Glanmire the Montessori children have been cantering across the field in their wellies as their interest in horses develop. We have been talking about Oreo of course as well as horses we have met on family trips and holidays. We even made horse food that children could eat from Cheerios, Shreddies and apples. We have learned the parts of a horse and have been practising the different sounds that a horse makes. There were plenty of tricks and jokes played as we bounded into April in Crawford Childcare Creche, Glanmire. April fool’s day always makes us giggle here. A common trick is to hide on the teachers and it is fun to watch their confused faces as they look for us. Easter is approaching and the children attending the ECCE scheme in our Montessori will be taking a break from Monday 14th April to Friday 25th April 2014 inclusive.
